Adjustable Rate Mortgage(ARM)
A mortgage where the interest rate adjusts periodically based on a market index. The initial rate is typically fixed for a set period (e.g., 5 or 7 years), then adjusts at scheduled intervals. Payments can go up or down over the life of the loan.
Amortization
The gradual repayment of a mortgage loan through scheduled, periodic payments that cover both principal and interest. Early payments are mostly interest; later payments are mostly principal.
Annual Percentage Rate(APR)
The yearly cost of borrowing money, expressed as a percentage. APR includes the interest rate plus certain fees and closing costs, giving you a more complete picture of the loan's true cost than the interest rate alone.
